There are two songs that were brought back to life thanks to audience intervention. One had been a hit before, the other not, but both became huge again thanks to audiences adding a new line.

The song Am I Ever Gonna See Your Face Again, by Aussie band The Angels, was their first single. It wasn’t a hit, and had been retired from their live set by the early 1980s. Pushed for an extra encore one night in Mount Isa, they played it and heard the audience call out a response to the question in the title – “no way get f****d f**k off”. It happened the next night in Cairns, and became a permanent feature at Angels shows ever after.

Then there’s Living Next Door To Alice, a 1970s hit by Dutch band, Smokie. That song came back to life many years later, thanks to audience participation at a Dutch nightclub.
